HCA Swedish Medical Center is a Level 1 trauma center in Englewood, Colorado. We are a 5-year ACGME-accredited surgical residency. We are seeking a full-time categorical PGY3 surgical resident who has successfully completed their PGY1 and PGY2 training years in an ACGME-accredited residency program within the last 6 months and be in good standing. If you are currently in your PGY2 year, that is acceptable. Preliminary candidates will be considered. Transfer candidates from other HCA programs will be considered. We do not sponsor visas for any candidates. Qualified applicants may be either DO or MD candidates and applicants must submit the following documentation (at one time – no piece emails, please, except for PD letters of recommendation):
1. Cover letter.
2. USMLE reports of all step exams (passing at first attempt on all exams) if an MD; COMLEX reports of all step exams (passing at first attempt on all exams) if a DO. USMLE scores must be at least 240 or better. COMLEX scores must be at least 550 or better. If you do not meet the minimum requirements, please do not waste your time or our time by submitting other documentation.
3. ERAS application which includes current CV, personal statement, medical school diploma and transcript and MSPE.
4. Three letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your current PD, one of which must be a dean’s letter, and one of which must be regarding a recent surgical experience.
5. Current ACGME case log showing your case numbers (General Surgery Defined Category and Minimum report)
6. Rotation schedule from your PGY1 and PGY2 academic years in residency training.
7. ABSITE score from your PGY1 year.
8. Residency database evaluations (or evaluation summaries) from your PGY1 and PGY2 years of training thus far.
9. Current BLS, ACLS and ATLS certification.
10. ECFMG certificate (if applicable).
