Description
$25,000,000 is my estimate of how much more a talented retina specialist might make over the course of their career if they avoid joining a private equity owned retina group such as all the major retina groups in the Houston area and instead join a practice like MVRPS (assuming no major change in reimbursement). MVRPS is seeking a well-trained, ambitious, charismatic retina specialist with exceptional patient manners. MVRPS is a busy solo practice that has a main office in the Texas Medical Center in Houston (the largest medical center in the U.S.) and 1 satellite location currently served once a month so that instead of driving 3 hours daily in Houston traffic you can focus on seeing patients and enjoying your family and life. MVRPS strives to provide an exceptional patient experience and has well-trained staff. The practice has participated in clinical trials. Dr. Carvounis has an extensive record of presenting/teaching at the major national meetings. This is a great opportunity for graduating fellows who seek to mature past fellowship training as Dr. Carvounis has trained 14 vitreoretinal fellows including while serving as director of the retina fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine and has trained over 100 residents. Further, Dr Carvounis performs 13-20 vitrectomies on a weekly basis. Applications from experienced vitreoretinal surgeons are also welcome.
Candidates should be board-certified/board-eligible, would be expected to have a Texas Medical Licence and have completed a 2- year AUPO-compliant retina fellowship with good surgical training by the time of starting their appointment at Macula Vitreous Retina Physicians & Surgeons.
Initial base salary is $425k with a generous productivity incentive for a 5 day working week with 1 day of travel to a satellite location and light call duty every other week. Opportunity for buying into ASCs within 1 mile of the practice exist. We also offer:
- 401(k);
- health care insurance;
- cover credentialing costs;
