Description

The Tim Russert Department of Communication seeks a candidate for a full-time tenure track position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level to teach in the Integrated Marketing Communication track both at the undergraduate and Master’s levels. The successful candidate will possess the following minimum qualifications: PhD in Communication, Integrated Marketing Communication, Public Relations, or related field; professional experience and strong foundation in digital analytics; experience in teaching courses in analytics, Social Media and Digital Media, PR Writing, and Research, and/or other subjects in the candidate’s area of specialty; knowledge and expertise in utilizing technology in IMC campaigns. Applicants should have active research agendas and teaching expertise in Integrated Marketing Communication. The department especially welcomes applications from candidates who are also able to contribute to related emphasis areas in strategic communication, health communication, or crisis communication. Methodological specialization is open; however, candidates must be able to teach undergraduate courses in research methods in addition to their areas of specialization. Candidates will be expected to contribute to graduate education. Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrable record of culturally-responsive teaching. In addition to a PhD, the associate-level position requires at least 7 years of previous teaching experience at the college/ university level. 

This faculty member will serve as an advisor for PRSSA as part of JCU’s Blue Streak Media, which coordinates the department’s/campus’ student media organizations.  Additional responsibilities include student academic advising, advising PRSSA students as part of Blue Streak Media, service on department and/or university committees, research, and continuing professional development. A demonstrated track record of working with students, colleagues, and community members that contributes to diverse cultural perspectives related to digital media is expected. Our preferred candidate demonstrates a blend of theory and praxis in student teaching; experience teaching at the college level is preferred. The candidate should have a record of demonstrated teaching effectiveness, and experience teaching in multiple modes, including online. Graduate courses are taught online using Canvas as the LMS. The successful candidate will need to show potential for conducting academic scholarship that will position them as a recognized expert in the field.
