Responsible for any combination of Cancer Registry functions including, but not limited to: case finding, abstracting, follow-up, monitoring, and statistical reporting of all reportable benign and malignant neoplasms diagnosed or treated within the Novant Health Cancer Institute.

Qualifications

Education:  High School or GED required.  1-5 years’ experience with CTR obtained prior to 2010.  2 Year / Associate Degree required.  1-2 years’ experience with CTR required.

Experience:  1-5 years with HS/GED. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research required.  1-2 years with Associate. Experience in Cancer Registry, Medical Records, Nursing, Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Public Health, Research required.

Licensure/Certification:  CTR required.

Additional Skills/Requirements (required):  

• Advanced level of medical terminology.
• Completion of Anatomy and Physiology.
• Basic Statistics and Epidemiology.
• Oncology knowledge of the disease process, including standards of care; surgical, radiation, and systemic treatment regimens.
• Knowledge of the American College of Surgeons Cancer Program Standards. Coding Courses in ICD0-3, AJCC TNM Staging, SEER Summary Staging, Solid Tumor Rules and relevant state data collection manuals.
• Ability to communicate effectively with tact and diplomacy wit Medical Staff, Novant Departments, private physician practices, and non-Novant facilities to obtain patient information resolve staging or coding issues.

Additional Skills/Requirements (preferred):

• Experience with Electronic Registry Systems Inc. registry software, Epic, Webplus (NC Data Reporting portal), QPort (Commission on Cancer quality portal); working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams).
