The Division of Infectious Diseases (ID) in the Department of Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine seek applicants for a full-time (1.0 FTE) Infectious Disease clinical educator position at the Associate or Full Professor, non-tenure track level. This position is anticipated to start in March 2026.
The University of Maryland School of Medicine is the first public and fifth oldest medical school in the United States. On the University of Maryland, Baltimore campus, the School of Medicine serves as the foundation for a large academic health center that combines medical education, biomedical research, patient care, and community service. The School of Medicine is ranked 8th among all public medical schools in research productivity. Faculty of the ID Division provides care for patients at the University-affiliated community hospitals, Saint Joseph Medical Center (SJMC), and University of Maryland Midtown (UM Midtown) Campus Hospital, as well as in our flagship academic center, University of Maryland Medical Center.
The successful candidate will provide inpatient consultative services and ambulatory care for patients representing the full spectrum of general and surgical infectious diseases primarily at our affiliated community-based hospital systems (UM Midtown Campus). They will have demonstrated interest and abilities in all areas of clinical and academic practice, including evidence-based practice, engage in clinical, teaching, and research activities. This position may also include leadership responsibilities including mentoring and development of faculty members. In addition, this position will involve expansion of UMB-NIH incubator portfolio for early career faculty members working in collaboration with UMSOM leadership. The position will also assist CIHEB to expand on global health research including education, antibiotic stewardship and hospital epidemiology.
Expected faculty rank for this position will be Associate Professor or higher, however, final rank, tenure status and salary will be commensurate with selected candidate's qualifications and experience.
The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on the University of Maryland School of Medicine's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

Qualifications
Applicants must hold an MD or DO and be board eligible/board certified in Infectious Diseases and have at least 10 years of ID faculty or fellow mentoring experience. Prior leadership experience is preferred. Applicants must also be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Maryland. Successful candidates must demonstrate clinical expertise in the care of infectious disease patients.
