Job DescriptionJob DescriptionOur organization is in search of a Board Certified/Board Eligible Foot & Ankle Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our expanding, high-volume orthopedic practice located in Portland, Maine. This is a remarkable chance to become part of a collaborative, patient-centered team dedicated to addressing the orthopedic needs of southern Maine and surrounding areas.
We foster a positive, team-oriented environment where physicians collaborate closely with seasoned orthopedic specialists, advanced practice providers, therapists, and support personnel. Due to ongoing growth and strong community demand, we are enhancing our Foot & Ankle Surgery program and are looking for a surgeon who is passionate about providing exceptional patient care while contributing to the success of our multidisciplinary team.
Position HighlightsFull-time role (1.0 FTE)
Established orthopedic practice with a significant volume of referrals and regional demand
Approximately 60% of time spent in the operating room and 40% in clinic
Dedicated operating room time and access to a new ambulatory surgery center
Manageable shared on-call schedule
The ideal candidate will deliver comprehensive surgical and non-surgical treatment for lower extremity disorders, including:
Tendon issues, such as Achilles, peroneal, and posterior tibial tendon pathologies
Arthritis of the foot and ankle
Ligament injuries, including ankle sprains and Lisfranc injuries
Minimally invasive repairs of the Achilles tendon
Reconstruction for flatfoot and cavovarus conditions
Fractures of the ankle, calcaneus, and foot
Plantar fasciitis
Metatarsalgia
Bunions
Neuromas
Hammertoes
Arthroscopy of the foot and ankle
Reconstruction following trauma to the lower extremity
Charcot neuroarthropathy
Whenever feasible, our team prioritizes minimally invasive surgical methods and evidence-based treatment strategies to enhance patient outcomes.
Teaching OpportunitiesIn alignment with our academic environment, this position offers opportunities to:
Instruct and mentor medical students during their clinical rotations
Collaborate with orthopedic fellows
Engage in educational and academic initiatives within the department
MD or DO degree
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
Completion of fellowship training in Foot & Ankle Surgery is required
Both new graduates and seasoned surgeons are encouraged to apply
