- Interventional Cardiologist
Description
The Central Maine Heart & Vascular Institute (CMHVI) is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to join our growing Coronary and Structural Heart Disease Program. We welcome applications from both experienced interventional cardiologists and graduating fellows with expertise or interest in coronary intervention, structural heart disease, or both.
CMHVI is rapidly expanding as part of an integrated cardiovascular service line that includes inpatient and outpatient cardiology, advanced cardiac imaging, structural and interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, cardiothoracic surgery, and a growing vascular surgery program. This is an exceptional opportunity to join a collaborative team committed to delivering comprehensive, high-quality cardiovascular care while helping shape the future of a growing regional heart institute.
The successful candidate will become an integral member of the Interventional Cardiology Section, participating in a dedicated cardiac catheterization laboratory with a diverse case mix that includes STEMI, complex and high-risk PCI, and comprehensive inpatient and outpatient consultative cardiology. Outpatient practice will focus on the care of interventional cardiology patients and referrals. Candidates with structural heart experience—or a strong interest in developing expertise in transcatheter therapies such as TAVR —will find a supportive environment with opportunities for mentorship and program growth.
Beyond clinical practice, CMHVI offers meaningful leadership opportunities within clinical and cardiovascular quality initiatives. Physicians with interests in quality improvement, process optimization, program development, or clinical leadership will be encouraged and supported to pursue these interests.
CMHVI is part of Central Maine Healthcare, an integrated health system serving the region through three hospitals located in Lewiston, Rumford, and Bridgton. The institute has strategic affiliations with MaineHealth and continues to expand collaborative clinical programs in cardiovascular surgery, cardiogenic shock, and advanced heart failure. These partnerships create opportunities for physicians seeking to participate in innovative program development, research, and academic collaboration.
Located just 30 miles northwest of Portland, Lewiston-Auburn is Maine’s second-largest metropolitan area and offers an exceptional quality of life with easy access to both the coast and the mountains. Many physicians choose to live in the greater Portland area or along Maine’s scenic coastline while enjoying an easy commute to CMHVI.
CMHVI is committed to supporting physician well-being with a schedule designed to promote work-life balance, including four-day workweeks, a STEMI call schedule of approximately 1:4 to 1:5, highly competitive compensation exceeding national averages, comprehensive benefits, concierge relocation assistance, tuition loan reimbursement, approximately six weeks of Choice Time, and additional paid CME time.
Maine offers outstanding public and private schools, vibrant communities, and year-round recreational opportunities. Residents enjoy access to beautiful beaches, lakes, mountains, skiing, hiking, cycling, boating, and countless outdoor activities. The renowned New England coastline, with its historic towns and working waterfronts, provides an exceptional place to live, work, and raise a family. Portland International Jetport is just 30 minutes from Lewiston and offers nonstop service to many major U.S. cities, while Boston Logan International Airport is approximately 90 minutes away.
